Shed another light

23 07 2011

I just have to say something. This day after this unbelievable tragedy in Norway. My thoughts goes out to all of the families and loved ones of anyone who lost someone in the Utöya massacre.

BUT…as my mind works…I was thinking about something else regarding this story in between all the interviews and press conferences. These following statements ARE cynical and negative but I just had to air them somewhere.

Since there definitely are greedy and ignorant people in the world out there and people who don’t give a f**k about this kind of situations, I was thinking about possible situations and thoughts that might occur in the heads of these people while tragedy struck Norway.

Okay. So here are a few instances…and remember…I’m NOT counting EVERYONE…I’m just speculating on how a few screwed up people might think.

1. Ignorant arcitects. People who didn’t think about anything else than how they would rebuild the norwegian parliament building while tragedy struck and couldn’t give two shits about the explosion.

2. Greedy contractors going “yes…let’s buy into the project on rebuilding the parliament building”.

3. People who are so into their own party that the AUF was nothing more than a big nothing to them, including the members of the youth organisation. I bet (though I wish this is not the case) that there are people out there who actually had a smirk on their faces when members of the opposing party was being slaughtered to death.

Because…and sorry people…the world nowadays is a capitalist way of life. It’s all about making money. It’s all about who is the best at the marketing game. My three examples above (except the last one) are concerning money. And if you made it all the way down here, once again, I’m speculating. These are just a few things that came into my head while watching the news coverage.

But if you are one of those people…what on earth were you thinking?

And also I wanted to say this. All of you who instantly jumped to the conclusion that these were actions of some terror organization from islam/the middle east/arabic descent/whateverthatisnotnordic, if you can’t see my middle finger I’m going to spell it out for you: F**k you.

And I’m not going to explain the last statement.

Oh how I love my country!

25 06 2011

I just thought I’d write a short one.
At the moment I’m sitting in a car going this country and it’s times like these when I see the country passing by outside the window that realize how much I love her.

Sweden, you’re in my heart. Even though we fight sometimes, when you show yourself from this side, it’s all love again.

When we were young

22 06 2011

This is just a shorty. But I was staring at Facebook again…

Recently I befriended a lot of my students who just graduated. They have their entire life ahead of them and they can choose to become pretty much whatever they want.

What did you want to be when you grew up.

I can remember a few dreams I had.

1. I really wanted to be a mechanic. Until I figured out that I was totally useless at anything that had to do with both cars and doing things that meant doing small things with your hands. I’m still useless at it. There is a reason for my love of computers.

2. I discovered the magic of radio. Every morning I listened to the morning show with Tomas Tengby and right before I chose my school for three years (I still don’t have a good word for the swedish school system between the ages of 15 to 18) I asked my mom:
- Mom. If you want to be on the radio when you grow up, what program for school should I choose?
- Well I think that most of the people who are working with radio are journalists. So that would be a good choice.

Since then I’ve been doing some kind of media for 15 years and I have been making a living the last two years teaching young kids how to do the same things that I love to do. Cutting film, photography, music and other things that I do in my spare time.

It’s a luxery.

So. What did  you want to do when you were a kid?

Who will be a legend?

19 06 2011

Today I recieved the horrible news that Clarence Clemons of the E-street band had passed away. I truly felt sorry for Bruce Springsteen and the rest of the crew who keeps going around the world over and over again. It’s a sad thing that someone who still had the fire left in him had to go. It’s easy to say that Clarence was and still is a legend.

About a year ago I sat down in front of an empty notepad document with one goal. To try and find the musicians and bands that had meant the most to their specific genre of music. It was fairly easy (considering it became a looong list) to find who had been the greatest influences, created their own sub-genres and so on but then I came to the 90′s. And I was stuck.

This list can be viewed here: http://www.goodhoneysociety.com/viktiga_artister.txt
(Note: A few bands are put in brackets because I was still wondering if they should be there when I wrote it).

Who are the greatest bands/artists of the 90′s. It was difficult to find artists who truly had made an impact on the world of music from the 90′s and on.

From what I have been noticing in the last decade or so is that bands who become great bands tend to fall out of perspective incredibly fast. They are hot and hip one day and then completely gone the next and noone seems to miss them.

So where are the legends of the 90′s and 2000′s? The Rolling Stones are still touring. Bruce Springsteen is still touring. Iron Maiden is still touring. Black Sabbath and a bunch of other metal bands from the early eightees are still on the road. So this made me wonder. Are there ANY bands of today or the 90′s that we can consider to pay money to see in 20 years from now? Who will still be here?

My theory is this: Since the Internet came around, the music industry is fast paced, people doesn’t have the attention span to stay with a band for a longer period of time and so after releasing a critically aclaimed album or two, they are gone, not even considered to be legends.

What bands is not on this list that you think should be there. If so, tell me why they should be there.

A 360 turn

18 06 2011

I was thinking. I was sitting here watching a music documentary about a band that was big in the eightees (and since there is a risk of losing all my credibility (if there ever was any) I’m not going to tell you which band it was) and they were talking about the dumb things that they were doing prior to now. The majority of them vere pretty much drunks and they were talking about how they changed their lives around.

Now that wasn’t really my thought about how it is to be in a band and having to make these decisions. I was thinking about how it is to make a turn in your life. In swedish it’s called a “helomvändning” which basically means a full turn-around, I instantly thought that it should be called a 360. But since the original expression means turning completely around, that makes it a 180.

BUT…that got me thinking. IF the fact were that you made a 360, meaning returning to the same spot you are in at the moment, do you actually take something new with you?

I’m talking about making a 360, stoping at 180, thinking about it for a second and then keep on turning. Doesn’t that mean that you still can make changes while walking in the same direction after you made the full turn?

These are the kind of things that are making my brain hurt.
What is your opinion?

There’s a vlog

For those of you who know the wonderful language of swedish. Me and my dear one has a YouTube-vlog.

Temporary Love

18 04 2011

I fall in love with things all the time.

Sometimes I hear people talking about a band, a movie, a tv-series or what not and I get all excited. Go home and online and check out everything I can possibly find out about that certain thing and then I’m hooked for a while.

But I tend to get tired of things pretty quickly and that’s bothering me.

But anyway. I just wanted to tell you about my recent love: Photography.

It helps that I have two complete photonerds where I work and it also helps that I bought a new camera in the form of a brand new Canon EOS 500D. So now I will be taking pictures for a while.

Go check out some of my earlier work right here:

Enjoy!
